I live in this house! 849 Redland Rd Cross Junction, VA 22625. This is in what was called Whitacre, VA, which is really just a few houses and a zip code. We are between Winchester, VA and Berkley Springs, WV. The house was built in 1904 and sat one door down from a grain mill. The house next door was the Mill Master's house and later housed the post office from the 50's - 60's. Our property now has only 2 of the structures in this photo standing, the garage and the building to the left of the truck in this photo which is an old chicken coup. I do not know the entire lineage of the families that have lived here, but it has only had a few owners. A woman named Mildred Gardner Largent Newlin lived here with 8 family members mid century to 1992 when she passed in the house.

Morgan, I basically grew up in this house. Mildred Newlin was my maternal grandmother, and the most wonderful person I ever knew. I spent every summer here when I was in my teens. Your home holds the best memories of my life.

Hi Bonnie, thank you for sharing such wonderful memories about this house. We had to sell and move this past June, but we loved the house dearly and hope that we contributed to it's continued life span. This is why I love old homes, so many people have filled the walls with love!
