My husband and I are lucky enough to have purchased the barn and farm ground on the south side of County A from my Dad. In '73 hogs were being raised here and hay put up in the barn and it looks pretty much the same although the hogs are long gone. My Dad's parents owned this when he was growing up and they milked here. Their homeplace was a half mile up the road. Mom and Dad married in '61 and moved a half mile down the road. Still love to see the contours of corn and alfalfa each year and look forward to a day soon when we will build our home here. My grandparents also owned the property on the north side of the road but sold the house, outbuildings and some acreage to an older couple who farmed it until my parents bought it too. Those buildings are gone as well as the home which burned in 1988 but a new home has been built by a family member. Fortunate that my Dad still owns the farm where we grew up. Many, many good memories growing up along this stretch of road. Hard to tell from the photo but this property is at the top of a fairly long hill that was quite a challenge for us four kids when we started riding our bikes to town - of course it was breeze coming home!
