From the best I can tell, this is the intersection of Lee Hwy and Ooltewah-Georgetown Rd, facing northeast. A Walgreens now sits at the corner, and the cut-off building on the far right is an O'Reillys Auto Parts store. Cambridge Square now sits in the area behind the two buildings.
You are exactly right. I grew up in Ooltewah in the 70s.
Hi Lloyd, thank you for sharing your nostalgic memory! The 70s in Ooltewah must have been quite the experience. Can you tell us more about what the area was like back then? We'd love to hear about any changes you've noticed since that time.
Well in Ooltewah there was one gas station at the corner of Lee hey and Ooltewah ring old. It was the golden gallon. Another station was on main st it was called the magic market I think itβs a bet now. The post office was also on main. There was a court house and old Ooltewah high school was in the neighborhood I over. If you wanted to go to a grocery store you had the village market in Collegedale or you havs to go to East brainerd to the piggly wiggly. Oootewah elementary is now a shopping complex. Nothing is the same really
