Yetter Chevrolet
543 W Market St, Beavertown, PA 17813

I own a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro that was originally purchased from Yetter Chevrolet. I purchased my Camaro in 1986. Information is almost Impossible to find. I Wish I had the opportunity to speak with Don Yetter before his Death, He could have answered a few of the question I have about My car and His Chevrolet Dealership. Thanks for the Image of the Place where my Car began it's now 55 year journey. If you have or know someone who may have any other information/photos about Don J. Yetter or his Chevrolet Dealership in Beavertown Pennsylvania and would kindly consider sending me an E-mail, I would greatly appreciate your help.

I am friends with Don Yetter's widow, and also very good friends with one of Yetter's grandsons. If you have a specific question I will try to find an answer for you. I grew up in Beavertown, where the dealership lived and prospered. Many good memories from that era.

Hello Darwin,
I would love to hear about some of your memories. Is there a specific story about this photo you could share?

no, nothing specific to the photo. As a kid I lived for the day when the new models were displayed on the showroom floor - it was like a carnival, the dealership would have door prizes, snacks and soda for the kids. Behind the dealership there was, at the time, a running steam locomotive that ran between Lewistown and Sunbury that would pick up bricks from the Beavertown Brick Plant (later purchased by Glen Gery Corp.) This railroad was known as the Sunbury and Lewistown RR, originally known as the Middlecreek Valley RR. It was told to me by one Yetter relative that when the new Chevy models were released they were delivered along this railroad track and then driven along Route 522 through Beavertown to the Yetter showroom for cleaning and display. These are little incidental things that probably are of little value to you, but I grew up in this little town so these pieces of old information are important to me. Yetter sponsored two sprint cars that ran weekly at the Port Royal and Selinsgrove raceways, Al Chamberlain and a McCardle were two of their ace drivers which as a kid I followed every week. Where is Hunlock Creek? I wish I had more to share with you, but I can tell from your inquiry that you have an interest in the history, etc., of those things that are important to you. Now, I'm getting ready to sell my original 1986 Mazda RX-7 that I purchased from a local dealership, Kratzer Motors, Paxtonville, PA. I have kept my 86 RX-7 in immaculate condition but now it is time to let it go and will take it to the Carlisle Spring auction to see what I can get out of it. OK, probably boring you with these other incidental details, but thought I'd share. Have a nice day........

It's not boring at all, this is great! Thanks, Darwin
