The Silver Spur Ranch Club. That's a huge cross shaped barn in back, it was razed sometime before 1994. The red pin marks the main barn with the sign.

Originally called Cottage Hill Farm and once owned by Dan Hanna and the home of Senator Mark Hanna. It featured a 25 acre lake, a heated swimming pool, 1 1/2 miles of river, a ghost town, a zoo, plus pistol and rifle ranges. It had horse shows, rodeos, hay rides, moonlight horse rides, and hunting (for $350 a year!)

Dan Hanna bought the 725 acre Cottage Hill Farm in 1902. In 1907 he built a 155 stall horse barn. In 1951 the new land owner, Frank R Fageol built the 27,000 square foot cross-shaped, heated poultry house for $40,000. Conveyor belts for feed ran 24 hours a day and faucets with running water throughout for the chickens. He planned to market 100,000 chickens a year.

Dan Hanna owned the Cleveland News and the Hanna Building and theater were named after him. He raised championship dogs at the farm. He passed away in 1962.

Omigawsh. Our family belonged to this ranch club in 60s! Had a cabin, loved horseback riding, petting zoo and clubhouse (mansion) was beautiful. Really enjoyed the whole arrangement, old west type town with actual vendors selling their products in boardwalk stores. Wondered what happened to it.
