Apex Barbecue Road. This is where my new bride and I first lived. Daughter was born while we were living here. Not in the old house but, renting an old single wide trailer (hidden by the trees, upper middle of the picture). apple and pear trees in the yard. Horses in the pasture. Derelict VW beetle. Original part of the house built in 1906. Gone now. I-540 runs right through here. Road got it's name because of a small BBQ restaurant nearby which went out of business, probably in the late '60s. - Paul

We were there from 1997 to 2001. Photograph dated 1999.

Hi Paul,
Is the property complete gone than with the I-540 running through it? What is one of your favorite memories from this property?

Property is completely gone. I-540 runs left to right through the middle of the picture. And is graded about 10 feet lower than the terrain visible in the picture. Barbecue Road has a bridge over 540.
To the right of picture is another pasture. I would pull a pear or apple off a tree in the front yard, lean against the horse fence and watch the horses graze, while munching on the apple. I made an error in my first comment. The original part of the old house (you can see it jutting out the back of the main house) was built in 1896. It is a log cabin with mortar(?) between the logs. The house/cabin was abandoned and no one had lived there since the late 1980s. The land and the horses belonged to the Mills family. I got to ride one of the horses, an Arabian mix, "Willy". "Mary" the friendly guard dog lived in the large barn with the horses.
