This is my Grandparents home, it was my grandads, grandfathers home, he purchased for good quality cotton in 1871 a few years after her return from the war, our family has lived in this home since, now my grandparents have passed and my mom and uncle share the farm, but the home is only used for visiting, when in the area. The barn in background burned down 20 years ago. My sister kept her horses in the barn and used the gated area for them to be outside a bit when not being ridden. I love this farm and home, many wonderful childhood memories, there were even more buildings on this plantation when I was a youth, the cooks kitchen and living quarters, the tobacco barn, the smoke/meat house, outhouse for bathroom needs. There is a family cemetery beyond the house in the edge of the woods. My civil war GG Grandad, his first wife, second wife and a daughter are buried there. We try and maintain the cemetery and stones.
