This was the homestead of my great-great-grandparents George Heinrich & Elizabeth Gohman, who moved here around 1875. Before that it was owned by George Heinrich's brother Barney, and Henry Schlagbeck before that. In 1908 this farm was passed down to John Henry & Josephine Gohman (brother to my great-grandmother), who then passed it down to their son Ernest "Dick" Gohman in 1965. When this photo was taken in 1986, the farm had just been sold to my mother's cousin John Schwinghammer, then his brother Donny acquired it shortly after that. Donny lived here until 2005, when the City of St. Cloud acquired the farm and several of the surrounding properties for a new business park by the Opportunity Drive freeway interchange. I always thought this was a bit underhanded on the city's part, but at any rate they completely razed all the farm buildings and it unfortunately sits vacant to this day.
