Appears to be corner of 7 Mile and Newburgh, Livonia MI

Building demolished.

This was the Northville Golf Club in Livonia, south west corner of & Mile and Newburgh

Started my young golfing years playing at Northville Golf Course in the late 70"s. The club house and course are gone and in its place is a Large size medical building.

yep, remember that club house and that old water tower like it was yesterday.. was actually about 1973.. love the picture!

It was owned by my great grandfather William Norman Booth.

Hi Terri, thank you for sharing that your great-grandfather owned the property in this photo from Vintage Aerial! Can you provide any more details about what the property was used for? Maybe you have some memories from visiting there? It's always interesting to learn more about the history of these aerial views.

Hi Terri, I grew up in Livonia and was always intrigued and fascinated by the old club house. Do you have any more details about the building or perhaps any other pictures of how it looked on the inside? My high school history teacher indicated that it had ties to Chicago and prohibition back in the 1920's. Would love to know any other details you can share. Thank you.

It was built in the 1920s and operated by Robert Jonas for many years. Violet Morris bought it just after WWII and she and her son ran it for many years. Part of the golf course was on the east side of Newburgh Rd. and the greens there were still visible in the 1970s.

I don't remember much about the interior because the Morrises closed almost all of it to the public. It did have a huge walk-in fireplace. The Purple Gang and prohibition stories were well circulated and never backed by facts, just 'my dad told me' stories. It was demolished in the 1980s.
