Hillgrove Church

My mothers family are buried here. Her Grandparents and some aunts and uncles
and cousins. Her aunt Iva Decker is responsible for most of the graves covered in mussel shells there. She told me she could remember when aunt Iva would get a bunch of kids together to help he gather the shells and she would have a chicken souping for them. She would boil the shells until they were white and shiny and then decorate the graves with them.

My father family members are buried at Hill Grove, grandparents are Roy December Sanders & Lillie Jagger Sanders

My Dad, Grandma Georgia Sanders, Grandpa Lewis Sanders, and 2 infant children are buried there. Also, lots of aunts, uncles, cousins and acquaintances. There are many members of the Sanders Family there. Used to go to Decoration Day there with food stretched on the right looking at that picture. We lived in Indiana at the time.

*Correction to Carol Sanders Dupin's post.

"My father's family members are buried at Hill Grove. My grandparents are Roy *Delaware Sanders & Lillie Jaggers Sanders."

Most all my family is buried in Hill Grove my grandfather gave the land for the cemetery along with my Dad and me and my sister Polly donated land also it’s has been a tradition to cover the graves with moss which now we use artificial turf and the shells it’s a little more to it than just boiling shells it’s a job that me my sister and my daughter has been handed tvOS a beautiful place down for 4 generations but people are to lazy now to keep it going my sister and myself are getting on up in age and our health is beginning to fail just hope one or two of the younger gererations will try to carry it on
