This is the old Strahan school that had K-6 students until everyone was moved to Nishna Valley sometime I believe in late 1960. The house across the street to the north of the school (bottom left of the picture) belonged to the Doyles'.

The home to the north belonged to the Gipe family. The little house to the west across the road was used for music and band. The teachers would escort the students single file from the school out to the road and down the side of the road to the house for our classes where Mrs Myers taught. After consolidation, it was purchased by the Michael Irwin family.

When I attended HS (1952-1956) the house to the west was used by the Superintendent, Carl Varner.
