Brimfield Illinois Grade School

This Brimfield Grade School building, which still serves as the school district's K-8 facility, replaced the original brick school building that was built in 1877. Some of the classrooms in the current BGS building were built as early as 1956, connected via corridor to the old school. Additional classrooms were added in 1959 and the old school demolished thereafter. The rest of the building shown here was completed by 1966, and included additional classrooms, the cafeteria, library, gymnasium, and locker rooms. Further additions to this building were made from roughly 1987-1993. The larger BGS gymnasium also served as the home gym for the Brimfield High School basketball and volleyball teams from 1966-2011 (as well as BGS sports and various school/community events); thereafter high school games returned to the "Brimfield High School gym" upon the new HS completion by fall 2011.
