I grew up in Hamel and this station pictured was the 2nd Shell which has since been replaced by a larger new Shell station several years ago. The Conoco Station across the road is where I worked when I was in high school and it 1st opened in about 1969. No longer there.

A Shell gas station, 315 East State Street, Illinois State Route 140, Hamel, Illinois. View looks north. This is located at the interchange of Interstate 55 and Illinois 140. The station has been rebuilt, as per previous note, and the Conoco station is gone. The hi-rise Shell sign still stands, albeit with the current Shell logo.
