This sure looks like the old Double G Riding Stable, Lake Villa, IL. Located one farm up on the southeast corner of Cty V63 (which I believe was once called Cedar Lake Road) and West Monaville Road. This photo had to be taken late 1973, as the arena is gone, as well as the large Double G Riding Stable sign on the side of the barn. The building at the lower left front of the barn was used as a clubhouse with tack rooms downstairs. At the time I worked there it had a deck and hitching rail facing the lean-to building on the lower right side of barn. Riding stable horses were tied up in the shade of the lean-to. In the barn were box stalls for some of the riding stable stock, and upstairs had stalls for boarded horses. I moved to Wisconsin and don't know when the lovely old barn came down, to be replaced with a metal pole building. There was large tracts of land surrounding the buildings used for the trails. Now this place is completely surrounded by subdivisions and though still being used as small private horse facility, will surely succumb to progress and disappear.
