The view looks to the SE of the intersection of N. Jackson and E. Jefferson Streets, in Gardner, Illinois. The Gulf, Mobile & Ohio RR splits the intersection. The Gardner Post Office is the building to the east (left) of the TRICO gas station. The gas station building still stands, as does the Post Office. Google Maps/Street view helped with getting exact location.
This is one of the stations of the Tri-Oil Co in picture 10 of this roll.
I lived in the house behind the gas station in the 1960's and 1970's. My parents sold the house in the late 1970's. The house and garage/barn are no longer there. The house was known as the Booth house. Dr. Booth was a veterinarian in town.
Hi Richard! It's fascinating to hear about your connection to the Booth house. We'd love to learn more about your memories of growing up in Grundy County during the 1960s and 1970s. Could you share any interesting stories or events from that time?
